Recently I asked my Instagram followers which brand of essential oils they use and I must say 80% of them replied DoTerra, so I decided to try them out as well. I really wanted to find a brand that I can be sure of the quality, as often, some contain fillers or other elements that dilute and alter the purity, thus diminishing the healthful qualities of the oil. In order to guarantee that the oils you use are pure, doTerra uses a team of highly skilled professionals formulated a successful testing procedure that qualifies doTerra oils as uniquely pure and free of contaminants. This quality protocol is called CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade.® What is more, when you buy product from doTerra, you are not only receiving an extraordinary product, you also become a part of the Co-Impact Sourcing movement that is blessing and its changing lives around the world. Plus they have so many amazing essential oils blends, and I like the fact that when you join as a member you get a much better price, plus the points that get you free products etc (for example I received the amazing Salubelle oil that is worth 90€ for free after my first order!).
I’m not really new to essential oils, I have had lavender for years (got the purest one from the Lavender Museum in Provence) and it’s such a lovely scent and it always relaxes me when I use it on my sheets or in a bath etc. But after having a baby, I started to use essential oils more and more as I was making my own products, such as a cleaning spray, baby diaper balm, bug spray and more. So here are some reasons WHY I use them and also HOW to use essential oils:
1. Because they’re natural and I don’t want any toxic products/ingreditents near or on my baby or my family! Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that retain the natural smell and flavor, or "essence," of their source.
2. Essential oils have a variety of health benefits, from skin care to stress relief.
3. The most common way to use the oils is to inhale them, either directly out of the bottle or by using a diffuser or humidifier. You can also dilute essential oils with a carrier oil and apply it directly your skin.
4. Aromatherapy isn't the only use for essential oils. They can be used in and around the home, as a natural mosquito repellent, or even to make cosmetics. For example, I have made my own Baby Balm, AfterShave Balm, Deodorant, Hand Soap, Toothpaste etc
Since I still have some pain in my wrists (mummy thumb), besides the Family Essential Kit, I also got Marjoram and Wintergreen oils from DoTerra and I diluted them in a roller with fractionated coconut oil to use on my wrists daily, so I'll keep you posted how they heal!
