Weekend in Lisbon, Portugal

After a few days in Algarve, we made our way to Lisbon to surprise my family who was flying there! It’s just a 2,5 four drive from Carvoeiro, Algarve to Lisbon, so if you’re in an adventurous mood, go for it! We headed to the airport to surprise them and then enjoyed Lisbon together for 2 days. Since we didn’t have a lot of time to do sightseeing, we only got to see the Belém Tower, which is a medieval defensive tower, Padrão dos Descobrimentos (Concrete monument to maritime explorers Statue built in 1940 to mark 500 years since Henry the Navigator's death) and the beautiful Jerónimos Monastery (World heritage listed Gothic monastery). But since the Belgium royalty was visiting it there and then, we couldn’t go inside. And of course we wondered on the Main Street and admire the stunning Praça do Comércio, which is basically a public square lined with shops & cafes. Another place we visited and left our Monte Santo padlock was the Santa Justa Lift. Built in 1902, this elevator connects the lower streets of the Baixa with the higher Largo do Carmo. Lisbon is a lovely city and I’m sure there is so much to do and see, but this time our aim was to enjoy some time with my family, so we will have to return!

Where to eat in Lisbon:

Restaurante Carmo - lovely restaurant on a charming square in the centre of the town. Great Pil Pil & Risotto!

Ribaduoro Seafood Restaurant - Avenida de Liberdade 155 - very traditional seafood restaurant that is always full. Because the food is great!
