We enjoyed a lovely long weekend in Portugal in the middle of October - just after the end of the season in Algarve. We opted for a beautiful and affordable 5 star resort in Carvoeiro, since we also wanted to discover the caves in that area and the resort has also been awarded as one of the top romantic resorts in Europe by the World Travel Awards. (Carvoeiro is around 5-hour drive from Marbella) Monte Santo definitely is the perfect relaxing retreat in Algarve and the 1-bedroom suite prices start from just 101€ per night. Our suite was very spacious and featured a fully equipped kitchen, living and dining room, a toilet with a shower and a bathroom with a bath tub. And they also have my favorite toilettries - by Rituals. The terrace was huge, so you can enjoy sunbathing there daytime or why not a candlelit sunset dinner. Besides the hotel rooms, Monte Santo also has townhouses available, if you’re looking for more privacy or more space. The breakfast is served at the Aroma Restaurant, that also has a terrace, but since it was a bit chilly, we stayed eating indoors. The breakfast buffet offers everything you can think of - from pastries and eggs to fresh juice and fruit, as well as pancakes! After a day out in Carvoeiro, the best thing to do (and that’s what we did) is enjoy a sauna session and a dip in the indoor swimming pool. Or you can also pamper yourself at their Alma Spa with a body treatment or a massage. Overall, a great hotel to stay when discovering Algarve area - spacious resort with plenty of areas to relax and a friendly staff to make you feel like home! Will definitely return when we have our little one next year!
