My favorite pregnancy workout - yoga!

If you’re pregnant and looking to practice yoga, then head to my favorite yoga studio in Marbella - Yogazone! Yoga is actually very beneficial when you’re expecting. Studies show that moms-to-be who participate in prenatal yoga have a lower incidence of prenatal disorders, low birth weight babies, and lower pain as well as stress. Yogazone Marbella studio in San Pedro offers a variety of classes, but one of the new classes is just perfect as prenatal yoga - Strala Yoga. The classes take place every Tuesday and Thursday morning 7.30am with the lovely Margaret. Strala combines the movement wisdom of tai chi with the forms of yoga, tai chi, qigong, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, as a way to help people release stress, heal, and move more easily through all kinds of challenge. So instead of holding a firm pose or asana, you’re more relaxed and can move around in a pose. Strala = moving with ease, accomplishing hard things easily.

But before you start practising yoga during pregnancy, consult with your doctor and make sure your teacher knows you’re expecting, since everyone is different and it all depends on your levels of fitness, health and state of pregnancy. Also you have to alter some of the poses. If you haven’t practiced yoga before, it might be better to avoid it during the first crucial trimester. But pre-natal yoga under supervision, is probably the best form of exercise, as it helps improve the general flexibility of the body and strengthens the pelvic muscles, which is the core muscle used during delivery. Not only that, it also improves blood circulation, stimulates the organs and glands, thereby aiding in normalizing blood pressure. Also it’s not only about the physical benefits - it’s a great mind-body workout, helping you relax and to achieving a more balanced hormonal system, as it calms both the body and mind.
