I want to introduce you to one of my new favorite brands for the summer that not only has amazingly beautiful and simple designs, but also supports something much bigger than any other clothing brand. The designer, Jacqueline Lopez, is committed to support slow production and to help the community of artisans in Oaxaca in Mexico, who hand make all of Jaline’s pieces! Jacqueline formed an atelier in Oaxaca with a small group of women who hand loom using an upright pedal loom, a tradition dating back to 500 BC! This stunning resortwear brand is inspired by the vibrant culture of Mexico and the amazing part is that the hand-woven kaftans take around two weeks to complete, while the silk dresses feature exclusive prints by the designer herself. It’s almost like a haute couture of resort clothing with a beautiful story and a purpose. I also love that both, the ready-to-wear collection and handwoven collection have the ability to transition from day into evening wear. Each piece exudes a modern romance while also paying tribute to intricate hand craftsmanship.
From all the beautiful clothing that Jaline offers, I chose the stunning Penelope Caftan Dress, that features an original feather print, a V neck, scarf sleeve and it’s made of 100% silk. It’s such a flattering cut and so easy to wear - it works for a day on the beach as well as for a romantic dinner at your favorite restaurant. I'm so in love with it, I could wear it every day!
