It was my second trip to Thailand and almost everyone who travels there flies to the capital of Thailand - Bangkok and we started our 2-week holiday in Asia also by flying in there with Turkish Airlines, which as an amazing airline. For our first two nights in this vibrant city with over 8 million inhabitants, we chose the modern five star Amari Watergate Bangkok, which belongs to the same ONYX Hospitality Group as the luxurious Oriental Residence Bangkok, where we stayed last year. And not only because of that fact, but also because its central location which is so important in a big city like Bangkok. The taxi from the airport with the meter to the hotel was 350 baht which is less than €10.
Since we had booked a Double Executive Club Room at Amari Watergate, we were entitled to have some of the luxuries the normal rooms don’t offer. Basically, the top four floors of Amari are the Executive Floors, so not only do you have a separate private reception area, you will also have access to the stunning Executive Lounge, that is located on the 32nd Floor and that is also where we had a great breakfast buffet. So you can really experience a red-carpet welcome and personalized service when you stay at of the Executive Rooms at Amari. Even though the main lobby where you first enter is also stunning since they did an extensive renovation to it last year. Another thing that I loved about the perks of the executive rooms is that you are also entitled to a complimentary happy hour that features a great selection of snacks as well as juices, coffees, teas, wine, beer and early evening cocktails. And you have also the option of enjoying breakfast downstairs at their new Amaya Food Gallery! What else can you ask for?
Our spacious room had a breathtaking view of the city’s skyline and the bathroom had a removable window, so you could enjoy the view of Bangkok even from your bathtub! And the huge king bed was just what we needed after our long flights. Did I mention they also offer a pillow menu? And of course the room comes with robes, which I appreciate and enjoy in hotels. One very cool detail I loved was the ‘Service’ light switch - instead of placing card on the handle of the door of your room, you just have to switch on the ‘Service’ light from your room if you would like it to be cleaned! Luxury to me is all about these little details. And Amari is constantly evolving and improving to offer its guests the ultimate hotel experience. And the prices at Amari Watergate start from less than a €100 a night, making luxury affordable for everyone.
Amari Watergate also has a beautiful pool area, a welcoming spa, salon and a gym. And it’s located opposite huge shopping malls, such as Platinum Mall and Central World. Make sure to visit also the Asiatique Night Market and this time we also took a Thai cooking class, which I will write about of course, so stay tuned. Allin all, if you're looking for a hotel in Bangkok either for business or pleasure, Amari Watergate with its friendly and professional service and amazing facilities can help you relax after a long flight or a long shopping day! A huge thank you to Amari Watergate for being the perfect hosts.
