Mallorca Blog #1: Aimia Hotel in Port Soller

If you’re looking for a quiet relaxing weekend in Mallorca, you must head to the charming beach resort on the west coast of the island - Port of Soller. When we booked our Mallorca holidays, we decided to spend the first days in that beautiful little fishing village (just 35km from the airport) and to discover the West and North side of the island before heading down to Palma.

TIP: When driving from the airport to Soller, make sure to take the road that takes you through Valldemossa village. This stunning little rural village is worth a visit! And have lunch in Can Costa!

We chose to stay in Aimia Hotel, which is a lovely four-star boutique hotel with 43 rooms located just behind the main boulevard, therefore you can enjoy the advantage of total privacy while being just minutes away from the port’s restaurants, bars and beaches. After being kindly greeted by the front desk staff, we were delighted to discover that our superior room was located on the top 4th floor with gorgeous views over the mountain as well as the port. Another thing I love is when the hotels have robes! I can’t think of anything better after a hot bath in my room (well maybe a glass of wine).. Anyway, besides the views, the room was very spacious and had a huge terrace. The breakfast buffet offers everything from eggs, toast and bacon, to fresh juices, fruit and even cava! We were lucky with the weather, even though it was the first weekend of October, so we enjoyed our breakfast outside with lots of sun and views to the modern pool.

During our days in Aimia Hotel, we also visited Cala Formentor in the north of the island. I will be writing and sharing my photos of this beautiful location, but it’s a must visit when you’re in the area. We intended to visit Cala Deia, which is around 20 minute drive away, but eventually we didn’t make it. But they say it’s worth a visit! After a day of driving around the island, there’s nothing better than to relax by the swimming pool or in the spa before heading for dinner.

In Estonia, having a spa in a hotel is quite normal, but in Spain I’d say it’s quite rare. But for me there isn’t a better way to end a long day out than to relax in the sauna and enjoy the jacuzzi with my boyfriend. Aimia Hotel also features a small but well equipped gym, if you haven’t walked around enough around the island you can catch up with your fitness goals there. Besides the sauna and jacuzzi, you can also take a dip in the heated 8x4 meters swimming pool with spine waterfalls and book a massage or a treatment to relax to the max.

Staying at Aimia Hotel at the Port of Sóller you really feel disconnected and here you will be able to rest, free of any other worry than choosing what to do during your stay in Mallorca. As the name suggests (Aimia means ‘loved one’ in Mallorcan dialect), that is exactly how their friendly staff makes you feel. And did I mention the hotel offers free parking in the hotel‘s own car park? Yes, they have though of every little detail. Thank you Aimia for your hospitality and for making us feel loved and relaxed!

The hotel will close for the winter from the 31st October until the 3rd of March 2017. So why not enjoy the last days of this amazing autumn weather in Mallorca or book now for March and welcome spring in style!
