We decided to enjoy the last hot days of the summer on the Costa de la Luz aka Coast of Light – a stunning unspoilt stretch of coastline that runs from Tarifa to Cadiz on the Atlantic coast. After a bit of research I found the perfect romantic luxury hotel in a Morrish looking hilltop village Vejer de la Frontera. Boutique Hotel V is a charming intimate 12-bedroom hotel with elegant antique furnishings and in a very exclusive setting. You can’t even access it by car! This 17th-century mansion that was turned into a luxury hotel in Vejer de la Frontera in 2008, is a beautiful blend of old architecture, Portuguese antique furniture and modern features.
As we stepped in the reception/courtyard of Boutique Hotel V, we were kindly greeted by the manager who took us to our cozy Superior Room and really made us feel like home. With an extra large bed, spacious en suite bath and cool views from all the windows this hotel is exquisitely designed for comfort - the perfect getaway from bustling Marbella.
Even though the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, it offers a lovely very different kind of breakfast from other hotels. And you know what is the best part? They will serve it for you! Don’t worry, there are plenty of delicious choices so you won’t be hungry - fresh croissants, toasts, serrano ham, cheese, goat cheese, jam, yoghurt, fruit and fresh coffee. The first morning we enjoyed our breakfast in the lovely open air patio, where you can hear the birds singing and the winds whistling. The last day we decided to stay in the quaint lounge area.
My second favourite feature at this gorgeous hotel was their famous rooftop with jacuzzi, offering breathtaking views over the white village. You really feel like you’re on top of the world, when chilling on one of the loungers there. And if you’re thirsty, you can help yourself in their cute honesty bar (meaning, you write down what and how much you drink!). The fact that there isn’t a lot of staff around the hotel is actually very pleasant and makes the whole experience very private and luxurious. You almost feel like you’re in a luxury penthouse in Vejer!
The best thing about Vejer is, that you can find peace and quiet as well as restaurants and bars with a lot of atmosphere. And the best hidden beaches of this coast are just a short drive away! And the beaches are probably the best in Spain: the most beautiful, least developed and with fewest tourists. We drove to nearby villages and towns, but that you can read in my next blog post!
Finally I would like to thank Boutique Hotel V in Vejer de la Frontera for their hospitality and for the lovely bottle of wine you surprised us with, your great recommendations for restaurants and for making our stay absolutely perfect. The most relaxing hotel I have been in a while. I can definitely recommend the V escape to my readers..
