After exploring Salerno, we headed for the jackpot - Amalfi Coast!
The Amalfi Coast of Italy offers some of the most divine scenery imaginable. It has been intensively settled by human communities since the early Middle Ages. And this place was definitely one of my bucket list places to go and not it was not only as beautiful as I expected it was so much more. The whole coast is worth visiting - it's romantic and magical and you can really switch off from rest of the world..
We rented a scooter for a day to discover the whole coast(instead of a boat trip to just one town), starting with the Amalfi Town. Between the 9th and 11th centuries, it was the seat of a powerful maritime republic and the Arab-Norman cathedral at the heart of town, with its striped Byzantine facade, gives a glimpse of the era and it is the first thing you see when you step inside the town. It is a tiny village, but definitely worth visiting and enjoying a Cafe Latte at Andrea Pansa cafeteria with a local sweet treat. And whilst you're there, make sure to shop for some local goodies, such as Natural Viagra or limoncello!
After exploring the Amalfi town we hopped back on the scooter and drove the curvy coastline until we saw a cala that looked like a piece of paradise. We took the million steps down discovering our birthyear on the stairs along the way - call it coincidence or destiny! It was the perfect spot for a Peroni break.. After the much needed drink and the walk up those million steps, we headed towards the place I was dying to see the most - Positano! Read about Positano in my next post..
